Description
Miller 34-ff.1 "ETLIR & R5+" XF+ 1787 DBL Connecticut Colonial Copper W-4060W-4060 (Whitman reference number), or traditionally referenced as a Miller 34-ff.1 variety 1787 Connecticut Copper Colonial Coin.
This variety is one of the "ETLIR" redbook types.
Attractive surfaces that are a smooth & reflective light-to-medium brown in color.
There are a couple of very tiny natural planchet flaws on the obverse (as-made) otherwise just a real choice copper coin.
All legends & devices are complete & bold including the 1787 date.
This coin is in XF, or better condition, it has not been cleaned, and it weights 128.1 grains.
This variety is a very scarce R5+ rarity (URS-7) with an estimated 33 - 64 known to exist in all grades, and likely closer to 33 than to 64.
This is an authentic & genuine Colonial American Coin - we do not sell replicas or fakes.
The example offered here may be within the Condition Census for this very rare variety. It is comparable to both the Perkin's example and the Ford coin. Whitman lists a catalog price of ,955 for the Extra Fine Perkin's example which was at that time (January 2000) thought to be the 4th Finest Known.
