Maris 46-e ** Beautiful VF+/XF ** 1787 New Jersey Colonial Copper Coin W-5250
W-5250 (Whitman reference number), also known as a M.46-e (traditional Maris identification number) 1787 New Jersey Colonial Copper Coin.
This variety is also one of the Redbook
"Small Planchet, Plain Shield"
types.
Very attractive smooth & glossy light brown surfaces.
As always with this variety, the obverse is clashed near the bottom, though some of the date is still visible.
The reverse shield has nearly all vertical & horizontal lines present.
All legends and devices are complete & clear except where the dies clashed near the date area.
This coin is in XF+ condition based on the strength of the reverse shield, it has not been cleaned, and it weights 141.7 grains.
Whitman lists a value of 0 in Very Fine condition, and this beautiful coin is worth all of that and more.
