Lot 5 1700s Non Regal British US Colonial Halfpenny Copper George II George III

Description

Fascinating lot of 5 neat nonregal variety Georgian halfpenny coppers for study. As can be seen in the photos some of these pieces have mint errors, evidence of die failure, circulation wear etc.  The dates are not clear but some of these have partial dates and perhaps can be determined.  Four King George III and one King George II.
Sized about 26mm-28mm & 5.1g.-8.1g.
Non-regal halfpenny families are discussed in the recent publication "Contemporary Counterfeit Halfpenny & Farthing Families" (Moore, Andrews, Bowser, Howes, Louis, Palmer, Rock, Rose, Schettino, Weston). Families will be expanded and new families added in a future edition of this book.
18th century Georgian halfpennies were used in day to day commerce in colonial and early America. Imitations were produced at unofficial mints in Great Britain and the United States during this era.
