    Description

1787 Connecticut copper, draped bust type, facing left. This piece appears to be the normal die type, without the miscellaneous varieties of lettering possibilities. The obverse shows "AUCTORI CONNEC". The reverse shows a representation of a seated woman, very similar to the representation of Britannia on British coins. In front of her is "INDE" and behind her is "LIB". This piece is much better centered than a lot of the Connecticut coppers and still shows a lot more detail on both sides than many of the often very circulated pieces. The bust side still shows detail in the drapery and detail in the hair and facial features. The color is mostly medium to dark brown, with the side showing the seated figure also showing some dark reddish brown tones. No notable marks or damage on either side. Both sides show a very fine texture light porosity on the surface.
