    Description

Offered here at Auction is a 1786 dated New Jersey Copper Cent.  I attribute this coin as a Miller 23-P, with a W-4940 designation by Q. David Bowers in his Colonial and Early American Coins attribution guide book.  This coin has Very Good grade detail.  There is some light pitting over the surfaces.  The date is very weak as a result.  I note a scratch over the upper shield, and two scratches under the horse over the plow.  This coin has seen a lot over it's 200+ year existence.    Q. David Bowers lists this coin a URS-10 in scarcity, or in his analysis 250-499 pieces known to exist.
